1. Who We Are

Quizimodo operates the pub quiz platform at quizimodo.online. We are the data controller for information collected through this service. You can contact us at hello@quizimodo.online.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following personal data:

• Account data — email address, display name, and profile picture when you register
• Authentication data — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and Google profile picture from Google OAuth
• Payment data — billing information is processed and stored by Stripe; we do not store card details ourselves
• Usage data — quiz sessions, AI generation counts, and game archives
• Technical data — IP address (used for rate limiting only, not stored long-term)
• Contact messages — if you contact us via the in-app form, we receive your message and reply email

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the Quizimodo service
• To manage your account and authenticate you
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To enforce daily AI generation limits
• To respond to support enquiries
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party providers to operate the service:

• Database & Authentication Provider — account data storage and sign-in handling (EU-region hosting)
• Social Sign-in Provider — optional sign-in via a third-party account (e.g. Google)
• AI Provider — AI quiz generation (your topic/language inputs are sent to a third-party AI API)
• Payment Processor — payment processing for Pro subscriptions
• Email Delivery Provider — transactional email delivery
• Cloud Hosting Provider — cloud hosting and deployment

Each provider operates under their own privacy policy and data processing agreements.

5. Cookies and Storage

Quizimodo uses browser sessionStorage to maintain your login session during use — this is cleared when you close the browser tab. If you sign in with Google, an authentication cookie is set by NextAuth.js. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. AI generation logs are used to track daily limits and are retained for 30 days. Game archives are retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. Payment records are retained as required by law.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Objection — object to certain types of processing

8. Children

Quizimodo is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of Quizimodo after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised notice.
